The Independent Pharmacists of Ontario (IPO) is a non-profit organization that was created to represent and advocate on behalf of Ontario’s independent community pharmacists. To date, the IPO has approximately 1000 members, representing well over 200 stores across the province – and our membership is growing steadily. The IPO came into existence as a direct result of The Transparent Drug System for Patients Act, TDSPA , which was introduced on April 13, 2006, by George Smitherman, the Minister of Health in Ontario. This Bill has significant and far-reaching financial consequences for Independent Pharmacists in Ontario that are different from other chain store pharmacies in the province. Please add your voice of support Independent Pharmacists in Ontario. Our organization is focusing its efforts on providing information directly to Queen’s Park – to educate key players about the impact of this new law as well as actions that must be taken to address the negative financial impact that TDSPA (Bill 102) is having on Independent Pharmacies across the province.
